Die Adelaide University ging 2024 aus einem Zusammenschluss der University of Adelaide und der University of South Australia hervor – eine Verbindung, die viel Erfahrung, Reputation und Ressourcen vereint hat.
Entsprechend hat die Adelaide University es schon 2025 in den QS World University Rankings in die Top100 aller Universitäten weltweit geschafft. Außerdem ist sie ein Mitglied der Group of Eight, ein Verband von Australiens führenden Forschungsuniversitäten. Einen besseren Start kann man sich kaum wünschen!
An der Adelaide University hast du über 300 Studiengänge zur Auswahl, die von Agrarwissenschaft und Weinbau, Musik, Medizin, einer Reihe von Sprach- und Kulturwissenschaften, Ingenieurwissenschaften, Biomedizin und vielen mehr eine große Bandbreite haben.
Die Adelaide University zeichnet sich durch das hauseigene Australian Institute for Machine Learning auch im Bereich KI und Datenkompetenz aus und macht Grundlagenkurse für dieses Themengebiet ab 2026 in allen Fachbereichen verpflichtend, um Studierende optimal für die Zukunft zu wappnen.
Hier findest du zukunftsorientierte Lehre, exzellente Forschung und großartige Möglichkeiten zur Vernetzung. Das alles ist eingebettet in einer von Australiens lebenswertesten Städten mit einer Mischung aus niedrigen Lebenshaltungskosten, einem lebendigen Kulturangebot und Nachtleben, sowie Nähe zu Strand und Natur.
Studienjahr
Das Studienjahr an der Adelaide University ist in zwei Semester unterteilt:
- Semester 1 2026: 23. Februar 2026 – 21. Juni 2026
- Semester 2 2026: 03. August 2026 – 29. November 2026
Die Adelaide University verfügt über sieben Campusse, von denen jedoch vier davon direkt in und um Adelaide angesiedelt sind. Nur der auf Agrarwissenschaft spezialisierte Roseworthy Campus liegt etwa 50 km außerhalb von Adelaide und die Regionalcampusse Whyalla und Mount Gambier liegen sogar mehrere hundert Kilometer von Adelaide entfernt.
Der Hauptcampus, der Adelaide City Campus, dagegen liegt passenderweise über den Stadtteil North Terrace verteilt – mitten im Herzen der Stadt! Hier erwarten dich nicht nur modern ausgestattete Lehr- und Lerngebäude, ein breites Versorgungs- und Freizeitangebot, sondern auch viele Möglichkeiten einzukaufen und auszugehen. Sollte dir der ganze Trubel mal zu viel werden ist es aber nie weit bis zu den Adelaide Park Lands, einem weitläufigen Grüngürtel, der die gesamte Innenstadt umschließt.
Die Campusse Magill, Mawson und Waite sind von der Innenstadt innerhalb von maximal 40 Minuten mit dem Bus zu erreichen und beheimaten auf weitflächigem Gelände vorzugsweise solche Studienfächer und Gebäude, die etwas mehr Platz in Anspruch nehmen, wie etwa das Theater- und Medienproduktionsgelände auf dem Magill Campus, dem Technologiepark auf dem Mawson Lakes Campus oder die Labore und botanischen Gärten des Waite Campus.

Das im Bundesstaat South Australia gelegene Adelaide hat etwa 1,4 Millionen Einwohnern und zeichnet sich im Vergleich zu anderen Großstädten Australiens wie Melbourne oder Sydney durch ein paar Faktoren aus, die besonders internationale Studierende ansprechen. Da sind zum Beispiel die geringeren Lebenshaltungskosten, denn wenn du bei den Fixkosten sparst, hast du dafür mehr Geld, um zu reisen und das Leben zu genießen!
Außerdem ist die Stadt relativ kompakt und bietet dir in einem kleinen Radius alles was das Herz begehrt. Beispielsweise ist es egal, ob du nach der Uni an den Strand oder in die Berge zum Wandern möchtest, denn du erreichst du beide Ziele von der belebten Innenstadt mit dem Bus in etwa 40 Minuten.
Adelaide hat sich auch den Beinamen „Festival City“ redlich verdient: Hier finden über das Jahr verteilt namhafte Festivals wie das Adelaide Festival oder das Adelaide Fringe statt. Dazu kommen noch jährlich mehr als 500 stattfindende Konzerte, Veranstaltungen, sowie Kunst- und Kulturevents – in Adelaide weiß man, wie gefeiert wird!
Zuletzt zeichnet sich Adelaide auch durch sein angenehm mildes und mediterranes Klima aus, das über das Jahr weitgehend trocken und sehr sonnig ist. Das sorgt dafür, dass viele Bewohner der Stadt gerne draußen unterwegs und aktiv sind. Es ist auch ein wichtiger Faktor dafür, dass das Umland Adelaides zu einem der beliebtesten Weinbaugebiete des Landes wurde.
Studienprogramme
Wenn du bereits einen ersten Studienabschluss besitzt und dich nun weiter qualifizieren möchtest, ohne gleich ein komplettes Masterstudium zu machen, dann bietet die Adelaide University eine Reihe an Graduate Certificates und Graduate Diplomas in verschiedenen Fachrichtungen an. Die Graduate Certificates dauern normalerweise ein Semester und die (Post-)Graduate Diplomas zwei Semester.
Zulassungsvoraussetzungen & Bewerbungsprozess

Über das „Study abroad and exchange“-Programm kannst du für den Zeitraum von ein oder zwei Semestern an der Adelaide University studieren. Dabei wählst du deine Kurse semester- und fachübergreifend aus den an der Adelaide University angebotenen Bachelor- und Masterstudiengänge aus.
Zulassungsvoraussetzungen & Bewerbungsprozess
Wenn du dich für das „Study abroad and exchange“-Programm bewerben möchtest, musst du bereits mehr als ein Jahr mit guten Ergebnissen an einer Universität in deinem Heimatland studieren. Außerdem musst du ausreichend gute Englischkenntnisse nachweisen. Diese kannst du mit einem Sprachnachweis belegen, den du bereits mit der Bewerbung einreichen musst. Kosten
Die Kosten für das „Study abroad and exchange“-Programm werden von zwei Faktoren bestimmt: Der Anzahl und der Art der Kurse. Die meisten Kurse gehören zur Kategorie A, aber wenn die Kurse beispielsweise intensive Laborarbeit beinhalten, zählen sie zur Kategorie B, womit sich die Studiengebühren erhöhen.

Finanzierungsmöglichkeiten
Zur Finanzierung des Auslandssemesters an der Adelaide University kann unter anderem Auslands-BAföG beantragt werden. Dieses beinhaltet neben Unterstützung bei den Lebenshaltungs– und Reisekosten sowie der Krankenversicherung auch einen Zuschuss zu den Studiengebühren in Höhe von bis zu EUR 5.600, sofern ein individueller Anspruch auf Förderung besteht.

Ein Masterstudium ist genau das richtige, wenn du spezialisiertes Fachwissen aufbauen und deine im Bachelor erlernten Skills verfeinern möchtest. An der Adelaide University kannst du in verschiedenen Fachbereichen promovieren. Die meisten Promotionsprogramme sind forschungsbasiert und führen zum PhD (Doctor of Philosophy). Es gibt aber auch andere Abschlüsse, wie zum Beispiel den Doctor of Medicine oder den Doctor of Clinical Dentistry.
Das Promotionsstudium an der Adelaide University dauert in der Regel drei bis vier Jahre nach dem Masterabschluss. Am Ende steht meist eine schriftliche Dissertation („Thesis“).
Zulassungsvoraussetzungen & Bewerbungsprozess
Um ein Promotionsstudium aufzunehmen, brauchst du in der Regel einen Masterabschluss, einen Bachelorabschluss mit Honours oder einen gleichwertigen ausländischen Abschluss, oder leitende Berufserfahrung in einem relevanten Forschungsprojekt.
