Hockeyteam der Saint Mary´s University gewinnt wichtigen Wettkampf

Zum ersten Mal hat die Eishockeymannschaft der Saint Mary´s University, die Saint Mary's Huskies, den wichtigen Cavendish University Cup gewonnen.
Zwar war das Team bereits mehrmals im Finale, konnte die Spiele aber bisher nicht für sich entscheiden. Daher ist die Freude jetzt natürlich umso größer.
Huskies Capture National Crown
An overtime victory has given the Saint Mary's Huskies Hockey team their first ever Cavendish University Cup.
Rookie Brad Smith scored the winning goal to lead third ranked Saint Mary's to a thrilling 3-2 win against the No. 1 Alberta Golden Bears in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport men's hockey final on Sunday night.
Smith snapped up a rebound off of captain Marc Raincourt's shot from the slot, and put it top right corner for the win.
Neil Conway made 38 saves for Saint Mary's, while his teammates managed only 26 shots through more than three periods against Alberta's Travis Yonkman.
Cam Fergus and Scott Brophy also scored for the Huskies.
It's the first title for Saint Mary's, who made it to four straight University Cup finals between 1970 and ‘73, but lost to Toronto each time.
The Huskies victory keeps the Interuniversity Sport men's hockey title in the Maritimes for the4 second year running.The University of New Brunswick won the crown last season.
The Golden Bears had been bidding for a record 14th national title.
