Ermenegildo Zegna & Istituto Marangoni: Focus Menswear
On the occasion of the Centennial of Ermenegildo Zegna and the 75th Anniversary of Istituto Marangoni,
these two-leaders of Italian fashion, match their professional expertise signing an important partnership and setting up the first edition of the Master in Menswear.
The Ermenegildo Zegna Group, a world leader in luxury menswear, has always believed in the importance of training and cultivating young talents. From this principle the partnership with Istituto Marangoni has been conceived, which for 75 years has played a key role in the training of creative talent able to meet the needs of the evolving fashion industry.
The new programme will provide a deep and detailed analysis of the menswear domain, articulated into all
different phases of production; from the collection concept to its set up and from production realization to its distribution.
An important asset of the new Master will be the presence of managers and designers from the Ermenegildo Zegna Group, who will transfer their skills and knowledge to the students, passing them key information on three areas: Product, Style and Retailing.
“This innovative project integrates conventional education programmes, with the expertise of the
Ermenegildo Zegna managers - comments Roberto Riccio, Istituto Marangoni’s General Director – we are
convinced that this formula, proudly supported by the company leading luxury menswear, will be the answer
to preparing the next generation of young talent for the job market.”
The Master in Menswear will provide students with skills in technical drawing both freehand and digital, and men’s modelling to deepen their skills of men’s modelling and the techniques for simple and structured garment construction. Also, the Master will cover deeply all the topics concerning product management and production flow administration.
“Zegna has always been convinced of the importance of training young talent, believing this type of teaching should not be only theory based, but also on significant practical experience. As a specialist in menswear this partnership with Istituto Marnagoni, Europe’s leading fashion school, is a natural collaboration, especially in the year that marks our one hundred year anniversary. The link between our tradition in menswear and commitment to future generations, naturally coincides with Marangoni’s core mission. Ermenegildo Zegna is proud to back such a quality driven project as the Master in Menswear and to work together with Istituto Marangoni in preparing the next menswear designers.” stated Benedetta Zegna, Ermenegildo Zegna’s Talent Manager.
The Master in Menswear will commence on October 18th, 2010, taking place exclusively in the Milan Campus, with 7 courses of 2h30 held over an eight month period. The Master will be opened to a maximum of 20 students and all courses will be taught in Italian with a simultaneous English translation for foreign students. The aim of the Master is to train dynamic professionals to be expertsin menswear and the fashion world with a strong knowledge of fashion product, style and creativity, market processes and marketing.
