Neues Kurzprogramm am International College of Management Sydney
News vom 02.09.2010
ICMS to offer new IATA short course in travel and tourism
World renowned leader in tourism and hospitality education, the International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS), has expanded its offerings to include a new short course in travel and tourism.
The program provides entry into the exciting world of travel and tourism and is certified by IATA, the International Air Transport Association, an organisation that represent some 230 airlines and offers training in travel and tourism around the world.
The course concentrates on industry fundamentals such as airfares and ticketing, computer reservations and planning and scheduling travel itineraries and can be completed over one month in January.
Program coordinator, Susan Freshwater, who has been teaching IATA programs at ICMS for six years, believes the new program will tap into an area of market demand.
‘We constantly get calls from students leaving school who want a kick start to their career in travel and tourism without completing an entire degree. This program gives them the opportunity to complete an entry level IATA course in just one month. If later they decide they want to study further, they can gain credit towards our Bachelor of International Tourism.’
‘This is an exciting opportunity for school leavers, and more mature age students who are interested in the industry to start building their travel career. Students have the added advantage of studying on the ICMS campus right next to Manly Beach during the summer, and can choose to live on campus while they study.’
Sandra Chiles, Managing Director of inPlace Recruitment and Vice-Chair of the Travel Industry Careers Association believes the practical training provided by the IATA diploma will be beneficial to students.
“Employers are looking for candidates who demonstrate the willingness to invest in training themselves – it puts them on the shortlist.’ Ms Chiles said. ‘As the 1st travel consultant in Australia to obtain the Advanced UFTAA IATA Diploma I can fully endorse the value of the IATA Travel and Tourism foundation Diploma.”
The course starts in the first week of January and ends in the last week of January and costs $2200. On campus accommodation is available.
