Opened in August 2008, the Health and Wellness Building is the latest examples of ECU’s ongoing quest in offering the latest facilities to its students and setting high standards in environmentally sustainable architectural design.

The Health and Wellness Building, located on ECU’s Joondalup Campus, is a state of-the-art facility that is home to the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Postgraduate Medicine, ECU’s multidisciplinary health research centre, the Vario Health Institute and health science facilities for Occupational Therapy and Nutrition Programs.

The School of Nursing, Midwifery and Postgraduate Medicine’s award-winning Centre for Excellence in Healthcare Simulation, draws upon the skills of performing arts students within the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) to prepare future nurses for the challenging clinical scenarios they may face. The Nursing School houses four mock clinical practise wards that are fully functional and up to the latest industry standards.

The Vario Health Institute provides cutting edge research, teaching and community health programs with a focus on illness prevention and disease management through lifestyle change. The Clinic also offers exercise physiology, nutrition, fitness and health education, counselling and clinical psychology, occupational therapy and physiotherapy services to the public.

The Health and Wellness Building encompasses groundbreaking design, first class facilities, and ecological sustainability. The building demonstrates ECU’s commitment to forge ahead in the field of health, research, technology, and sustainability.
